13 Gates Explanation
Ok hope this makes sense. I’ve always had a hard time putting ideas and such to paper.
First the gates themselves are living magic. They cannot be called upon to do anyones biding. Magic is a living force that surrounds us. It is attracted to what is in our hearts/soul. Usually though, but not always, a soul will be called by the same gate every lifetime.
The first 6 gates hold/are all the positive magics. The last 6 hold/are all the negative magics.
Positive magics are normally defensive/healing magics. Negative magics are normally offensive/harming magics. Now some negative spells (offensive spells ) are used by some of the higher positive gates and vice versa.
The positive gates call those who truly believe that helping others, and not harming are the way to go. These are the ones who when attacked use their defenses to protect them. There are times when offensive is used but they are still used with the goal of not harming another, binding spells for example. They ask for help from others/spirits.
The negative gates call those who truly believe in self first and foremost. These are the ones who use offensive spells to get what they want. Of course they use a form of protection, but usually it is at the cost of another. They demand the aid of others/spirits.
Any magic used to control another is negative magic, for example love spells. These spells are not used to help anyone but the caster of the spell.
The 13th gate is the neutral. It calls those who truly believe in balance between positive and negative. These users will use either positive or negative magics depending on the situation. This gate holds the most powerful of the positive and negative magics as well. These are spells that are meant to be used one way but could be used the other way, or in some cases backfire.
Sometimes even when you think you are helping someone you may actually do them harm, and sometimes you may wish to harm someone but end up helping them.
This gate tries to maintain a balance between the others at all cost. If the scale is tipping too far one way it will do something to return the balance.
Of all the gates, people called by the 13th probably have it the hardest. This gate requires, of even its own, to maintain balance between positive and negative in their lives. Joys and Sorrows are to be equal in number. Even when using magic they must keep a balance. Never using too much positive or negative magic. This control of balance can be hard to maintain. The gate though will balance it out for you if you can not.
All the gates introduce trials into the lives of those they call. A positive one might be tempted to harm. A negative one may be tempted to help.
Now don’t get me wrong just because someone is called by one of the negative gates does not mean that there is no one they love or care for. Its just the magic they use. To gain for themselves instead of helping another.
Ok, now any specific questions, if any, would be good. I may have missed something or not explained it clearly enough. I have never been asked to explain the gates in great detail. I guess its hard because I just know they are there and what they do. In my opinion.
